We had a crazy weekend, so I didn’t get a chance to spend very much time in the kitchen or researching new recipes. I did manage to post last week’s updated penne and sausage recipe. This week, we’ve got dinner plans on Monday and Thursday nights so I am off the hook for cooking. We also have house guests next weekend, so you won’t see any new posts from me next week.

For breakfast this week, I’ve picked the white bean spread on an English muffin. The recipe can be found here.
Lunch on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be the steamed chicken with ginger, spring onions and oyster sauce. The recipe is here. The Asian greens and broccoli will go into the lunch container raw and these will get cooked while the chicken and rice reheats.
Tuesday night’s dinner will be pan-fried steak and vegetables – with the steak cooked on a grill pan and onions sautéed in a separate frying pan. The mushrooms and snow peas are then cooked on the grill pan while the steak rests.
Wednesday’s dinner and Thursday’s lunch will be a new recipe. I’m going to try steaming pork chops and vegetables in the Varoma while cooking an apple sauce. The draft recipe is below.
Draft Recipe:
Pork Chops and Vegetables with Apple Sauce
Ingredients
800g pork chops (or 4 pieces)
2 carrots, peeled and cut into 1m pieces
2 cups broccoli florets
2 cups frozen peas
Marinade
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tsp dijon mustard
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper
Apple Sauce
2 apples, peeled, cored and halved
1 tbsp lemon juice
60g water
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
1. Combine pork chops and marinade ingredients in a mixing bowl and set aside for 15 minutes
2. Put apples into the Thermomix bowl and chop with the measuring cup (MC) on for 3 seconds/Speed 4
3. Put remaining apple sauce ingredients into the Thermomix and close the lid
4. Put carrots into the Varoma bowl
5. Line the Varoma tray with wax or baking paper and place pork chops on top
6. Assemble the Varoma and cook for 15 minutes/Varoma/Speed 1
7. Add broccoli and peas into the Varoma bowl, reassemble the Varoma and cook for a further 5 minutes/Varoma/Speed 1 (or until pork chops are cooked)
8. Remove the Varoma, put the MC on the Thermomix and blend the apple sauce for 30 seconds/Speed 6
